D&AD Brief

I’ve chosen Pentagram’s Graphic Design brief for this year’s competition. The brief is to ‘create a series of special books/publications on specific people who have given talks for The Circle’. The do NOT have to be like magazines, but thought of as books or ‘special editions’. It does not clarify the information that is to be included.

Research & Important Links

The Typographic Circle

3 designers that have spoken at The Circle must be chosen to base these supplements around. I’ve whittled it down to 4.

Anthony Burrill

Richard Morrison

David Trott

Angus Hyland

Pentagram already design ‘Circular’- The Typographic Circle’s annual magazine. As these are member’s only, I’ve only been able to find a number of images.

The Typo Circle is also a social organisation. Anyone with a love of typography can join for a small fee. They have a growing selection of found typography submitted by members;

Found Type

which reminded me of

The Design Disease

The magazine focuses on their work. Which gives the members of The Typo Circle their typography fix, so the supplement should be humanistic to showcase The Circle’s social rationale.

The Typo Circle asks for equality.
