The British Newspaper Archive is the partnership of the British Library and brightsolid. They intend to digitally publish 40 million scanned newspaper pages over the next ten years from the British Library’s archive. 

Although it’s free to search the archive, it does cost to view the documents.

However, these images are from an article by the BBC History Magazine. Additional information about the individual documents I posted here, can be found there. 

These scanned pages are not only interesting from a design and typography point of view, but also in the way that they are historically important. They may or may not document famous people or era-changing events but they also show the news that is often forgotten over time.
